Developed in 1963 by the people of Oscoda County and Leo Nelson, a wildlife sculptor in Kalkaska. It was then dedicated by Roger Tory Peterson.
Our Lady of the Woods Shrine

Mountainous structure of limestone, 42 feet tall and 120 feet wide, portraying five apparitions of Our Lady. The Shine was conceived in the 1940s by the first priest at St. Mary Catholic Church and was dedicated in September of 1955.
